9. Conclusion: Final Remarks

It is a characteristic view in Georgia that a tolerant attitude towards minorities is traditional from ancient times. But the difficulty is that the minorities living in Georgia significantly differ from one another in terms of number, residence pattern (compact or dispersed) and degree of integration into the social life of the country. Even internally these groups are not homogeneous. For example, the Greek Diaspora consists of two groups: one speaking Turkish and the other Modern Greek. Azeris living in Kvemo Kartli and Shida Kartli also differ from each other. The fact that they receive secondary education in different languages (in Georgian in Shida Kartli and in Azerbaijani in Kvemo Kartli) plays a big role. What path is Georgia going to follow in the future?
