In 2007, there were 1,342,409 residents in Estonia, of these 921,962 ethnic Estonians (based on the figures released in the Yearbook of Statistics).

Among the ethnic groups living in Estonia, the biggest in number were ethnic Russian residents (344,280).

Ukrainians (28,1580) were the next biggest group in 2007. The number of Belarussians living in the country was 16,133 and the number of the fifth largest ethnic group
